Carol and I left yesterday afternoon on a little road trip up to Malone NY to pick up a Glenwood 8.

Stayed overnight in Malone and by 9:30 am she was loaded in the truck.

The stove was purchased new by the owners mother and when she passed on her son removed it and placed it in his garage where it sat without a fire for the past 40 years.

Other than the spark guard and the grate cover plate missing the stove is complete and in nice shape. :D

Since there was still a bit of room left in the bed of the Toyota and it was still early I mentioned there was another stove about
3 hours south east but would only add another 2 hours to our trip back home.

I called the seller and he agreed to meet us at his summer home so I could take a look at it.

After an hour or two of haggling, we came to terms and loaded up the 13" firepot Amherst mica base burner.

On our way home we spotted an Antique store witha half dozen good possibilitys plus a nice Andes cook stove but alas....... We were just out of room in the little truck. :(

Really nice scores. I just gotta find a use for my #8s, they look so awesome. They are just a little to small to use as a tornado shelter and I have my coal heat covered. I'm working on it.

The #6 fire pot is approximately 12 inch at the bottom, the #8 is about 14 inch.

With one inch thick factory type brick liner, 10 inch and 12 inch respectively.

The grate bars extend under the brick liner.

They are at the top of the firepot, WIM.

The firepots are 16 inch outside (15-1/2 inside) for the #6, and 18 inch (17-1/2) for the #8. The factory firebricks are one inch thick.

But even with a brick liner, the #6 holds 50 pounds of nut coal and about 46 of stove coal. The recast magazine adds at least 50% more capacity to that.

Thanks again. Any 18" stove sounds like a serious heater.
