Nice stove! That is awesome. What ya got behind it? Looks like steel rails. Will those absorb radiant heat and act like convection radiators?

Looks wonderful, A.

Yeah, potbelly stoves are not noted for being slow burners. Mine burned wood like it was paper. :o

Nice! I bet they'll warm upward and act like radiators :)

They reflect most of heat away from the wall and into the room... the stove is plenty hot yet they are still cool to touch... behind them is 1/2in cement board a 2 inch air gap then my wall...

Well it was 22 this morning and we are aiming 18 to 20 tonight so I decided to give the new to me base burner a try to see how tight I got her... Well shes idles along just fine with the primary air just barely cracked... actually I dang near put her out getting greedy!!!! I used some lump charcoal I had to light her and no soot on the isinglass so that technique is a keeper!!!!

The dog like the base burner too... I suspect this is the first coal this stove has seen in 50 plus years!!!!

Ha mid 40s tomorrow so not yet but I have the pot full I'm hoping for 24 hours shes jus barely bubbling along... I have mpd closed and stove is in full baseburner mode and both primary air dampers just cracked you may get a playing card in there... Its actually a nice heat!!!

Well first test is impressive I lit her with lump charcoal and then topped off the 16 in pot maybe 1.5 inches from the top... This was Saturday at 3PM and set her to a very low burn as it's not that cold and my Range is going... Yesterday at 3PM or 24 hrs later and I did a shake down... dropped about 1.5 inches in the pot still burning... I suspect I'll get nearly 36 hours out of maybe 30 pounds of coal!!!! That's crazy!!!!

Stove was lit last night as we have 4 or so days of pretty chilly weather coming... I've filled the magazine and she is running very low and keeping house plenty warm... I'm hoping to get over 3 days from a magazine load we will see...

I replaced an old US Army cannon heater number 15 with this beast and barely purring along (I see no blue flames just a red glow deep in the firepot) she is putting out a perfect amount of heat to supplement the kitchen range... I have to say whoever designed this Splendid Universal 166 did a good job... I have her down so low now that you can touch the stove pipe and top of the stove but the back and bottom where flue gasses first go you cant touch... It's quite amazing... IM also impressed at how evenly in the firepot the magazine spreads the coal!!!

Ok first how long can you go test is complete... Looks like 50pds in the magazine will be depleted in 55 to 60 hours on a low burn with refueling being mandatory at 72 hours... I think that's pretty good????
