Well, after quite a few years I have finally joined the baseburner club. This morning I got a notification in my email about a antique coal stove. I almost didn’t look because the price was only Listed at 150$. I figured it was probably a junky stove. As soon as I saw the pictures I called the lady and went and picked it up. It’s complete other than the bonette. The firepot is 16in across and in phenomenal shape. There are a few cracks here and there but nothing that can’t be fixed. I need to fabricate the door that switches the smoke from direct draft to baseburner mode. It has its issues but all and all it’s a great looking stove. I’m gonna start tearing it down tomorrow and see what all I can get accomplished. I plan to install the stove this fall and heat as of my house as I can with it. If anyone knows someone who may have parts let me know. I’ll update this as I get more and more into the stove. Can’t wait to see a glowing fire in its belly!!!!

Parts can be scarce, bonnets even more scarce.
If you can locate another owner of identical stove and find them willing, you may have missing part(s) re-cast.

Wishing you well in the search.

Nice find. That'll be a great stove when you get it done.

I'm confused. You said the "bonnette" is missing, but I see it sitting on top - complete with it's finial.

Did you mean the dished nickeled reflectors, that some mica burners have surrounding the sides, just above the doors ?

Yes sunnyboy. I meant the reflectors that sit above the mica windows and below the finial. I actually think the stove looks cool without it but I would like to try and find it just to keep the authenticity of it. I’m primarily more focused on getting it usable for this coming winter.

Ok.

You might try contacting all the stove restoration shops you can find online.

And, if they don't have one, ask if they know where there is one so that you can ask the owner if they might be willing to use parts as patterns to have recasts made ????

Nice find! I picked up a Wherle # 106 a few years ago that is very similar to yours and was also missing the reflector bonnet. Larry is right..... I have been searching about three years for one and they are hard to find.
I will let you know if I run across any #108 parts in my search.

On the bright side the stove will function fine without it and other than losing the double heater flue option the stove does look respectable without it.

One of our other members restored a Floyd Wells Co. Ruby Rosemont that was also missing it's reflector bonnet. Here is a link to a picture of his:

The picture below is my Wherle #106.
