Got a chance to design and mock up a Rosemont style radiator today. Basically steel box 8” wide 6” tall. 5” inlet pipe and 5” outlet pipe. Center pipe will draw cool air from floor up pipe for convection. Exhaust gasses will heat up center pipe in the box. Just a mock-up to see if I want to continue with build. Mock-up behind a 151 stove.

Interesting concept...... With one box, will you have a provision to run the stove in direct draft on startup and during shakedown ?

Why not also route exhaust through the center pipe, too, and let all the convection happen on the outside ?

I thought the idea of a Rosemont was to channel the exhaust through all the pipes to increase the exhaust exposed surface area, and flow resistance, so as to maximize exhaust heat extraction ?

Here is a catalog cut showing the gas path of the two pipe Rosemont.

I have the three pipe version that was designed to heat a room on the second floor.

Yep just bouncing some ideas around. Took this concept from my Triple Effect where the exhaust gasses are used to heat a cast chamber before exiting up the chimney. It puts out a great deal of heat. Not sold on design that’s why I appreciate all the input. I also was looking at a style like the 3 tube Rosemont. As for direct draft provisions my setup doesn’t need one. I have a great deal of draft 47’ of chimney. Was going to make a door for ash clean out in bottom box.

Got a bit more completed today. Here are pictures of the Florence secondary air port and adjustment. Also working on door gaps. Just about got them all lined up.

Forgive my ignorance, dose that secondary damper on the back control the air to the gas ring? If so is there a 3rd in the load door as well?

Dana. Yes the back controls the extra to the gas ring. There is a small door in loading door for extra secondary air. It is auto adjust by needs of draft. Did a little temp burn today to cure pot and burn off some stink before I move 151 to house.

Burner just used at shop to cute pot and sealant. She’ll be on a strict diet of coal once moved to the house. Cuts down on grief from wifey. 😁

Moved the 151 from shop to house today. Putting on the bright work. Not ready to put her in service yet. Boy she looks tiny next to the big Favorite.

I like it, what do you use currently to heat with?
