Hi all I have been trying to find a picture of the original lid lifter that came with the #6 and #8 Baseheater, If someone can provide one that would be great, or better yet one that I could purchase :D .
All I need is the lid lifter and a magazine to complete the collection. Thank you friends :)

Member wilsonswoodstoves that might have one for sale.

And they sometimes turn up on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=Glenwood+st ... d&_sacat=0

They look very much like other lid lifers that have the stove maker's name on the shank.

I've been looking on EBay for awhile and haven't seen one, lots of others but no Glenwoods. Calling Wilson was the next step but haven't yet.
Thanks Paul

I got lucky enough to meet a gentleman who’s grandfather worked at the weir stove factory. Even showed me a check stub. He was in his sixties an had been in the stove business himself. Met him at his yard sale in Taunton. He actually gave me a glenwood lid lifter.

If it doesn't have to say "Glenwood" on it, there are lifter handles that turn up on eBay that are the same as the Glenwood handles, just no brand name on the shank.

As for a magazine, hang in there. Paulie is working on recasting magazines for the #6, #8 and they will likely fit some of the GW Oaks and Modern Oaks. PM him for details.

forget what this came with--probably kitchen stove MANY yrs. ago--any of you lid lifter experts wanna take an educated guess. I'm gonna clean it up--GENTLY on my wire wheel & if it don't disintegrate, I'm bettin she'll be pretty nice--in my world!! :) I'm thinkin the spring handle went all the way together when I was using it. Damn rust!!! LOL

Yes, the spring would have been one piece to make a loop. And they were usually nickel plated.

Those turn up quite often on Ebay too. Can't remember ever seeing one that had a stove makers name on it, so I'm not sure if they were sold with a stove, or an aftermarket handle ???

Barry, Here is another Glenwood lid lifter like the one Merc posted.

I'll let you know when I'm sending it out for recast if you want one.

That's a rare one and it's in great shape, Paulie. Put me on the list to buy one if you recast them.

Considering the number of stoves they sold and that still survive, Glenwood handles are tough to find. Watching eBay over the years, I've only come across a couple of the cast handle like yours, and coil wire handle range type. Since many range users store the handle in one of the cooktop round covers, the cast handle type would get too hot to hold, therefore I assume the solid handle ones were more likely sold with parlor stoves ?????

I have a coil handled Glenwood that I got from Wilson. I use it with the #6 rather than my range because the '03 Sunny range oven damper handle has a pointed top. The non-Glenwood handle I use has a hole near the tip that perfectly hooks over that too-hot-to-handle damper lever. So, I use the Glenwood coil handle with the #6 because the handle doesn't get too hot when I store it in the bonnet holes. Every time I need to fill the magazine, I've been too lazy to keep reaching for the handle under the stove, or find a place to hang it on the wall when sticking it into the bonnet is so more convient. :D
