Hi , just wondered when manufacturers stopped using mica in there stoves and started using heat proof glass . Only curious as my stove has mica but I can't find a manufacturer name anywhere so was wondering about a appropriate year , would give me a rough idea .

Have no idea but it must still be made as some Amish stores still carry it. Could possibly be old stock but I believe it's still around.

Chubby Stoves still use mica dont they?

they sold cheap wood stoves in the early 1980's, parlor styles, that used it for glass. I have one here in my garage. I think they were imports and are cheap quality. They had a screen if front of the mica.

Thanks just wanted a idea of the age of the stove I am restoring and putting in the bedroom as I can't find a manufacturer logo anywhere I will have to guess . No matter it's a good looking heavy parlor stove and it's been installed this Friday so will post some photos when it's up and running.
