I'm am brand new to the antique stove world. I am needing information on Lahan Stove & Mfg. Co., Quincy, IL. I am unable to find any information on my stove or the company. The only thing I have been able to find that Edward J. Lahan had a "NO SOOT" patent issued in 1904 -05. I really think my stove is awesome. Thanks for any help.

It sets on a nickel base about 10" tall.

Thanks jricks1970, it looks like your in the middle of a rebuild of a worthy subject. Are you presently a coal burner? If so, what types of coal are available in your area? Thanks again for the pic's...we love pic's!

Mike.

Your mention of the "No Soot" patent sounds like a clue for burning bituminous coal as it can bellow soot and smoke unlike anthracite. The fact the stove is from Illinois is another clue the stove was made to burn bituminous coal.

Welcome jricks.

You could try contacting the Quincy, historical society.

http://hsqac.org/research/

Apparently they have a very large archive of historic material that can be researched.

Here is an add from 1905. But not my stove. No access to coal. I live in Oklahoma. Plenty of trees.

That ad clears one thing up, it's a soft coal base heater stove.
