As summer draws to a close, it's time to examine my piggy bank. I always put my spare change into that bank at the end of every day and cents soon become dollars.

As winter gets near I look at this resource to pay fuel bills and despite HO getting more expensive I thought I was almost there. La chance ne sourit qu'aux esprits bien préparés. Today I open up the new format coal board and what do I find --- Pierre is selling Sunnyside.... what is a man supposed to do? Life is what happens when you have finished planning. So I just bought sunnyside ... I will never sleep tonight.

hahahhahahahahahaa, I slay myself. Now the CN restoration method will be employed. Pierres fingerprints will be lightly dusted off and the stove installed. This is the CN way. As I have no skills here, it's the only way.

God, I love that thing.

Well W, this is the finest example of a super rare if not unique stove that has been painstakingly restored by an expert. Yes, I am paying top dollar but it is worth it. I am going to use it this winter. Delivered to my door from Quebec. Of course, everything costs money but searching the country for one of these only to find most of it is total junk is very costly. I am bored with that game.

You should ask for a few other items to be added on the truck...

I will take him to Brother Brunos in Chester. Arguably the worst pizza in the Northern Hemisphere. He should learn how the other half lives.

I dont think you over paid at all, especially compared to what new box stoves cost. It truly is beautiful. And yes, you could search for 20 years and never find another one, much less in this condition.

For a 100 year old MN man, you learned well. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is either cheap or overpriced depending on your perspective.

Well congrats, Simon.

And thanks. You saved me trying to talk my neighbor into buying it. Their late 1800 house had the same type stove in the front parlor fireplace. The decorative cast iron arch is still there, but where the stove would have fit into it is closed off with sheet metal.

Certain images get burned into your brain. I got the cat thing sorted out , I got a wife, a rocker (OK, ours is wood but that is close enough), neat as a new pin (OK, we will work on that one). For once Shelley is in love with the stove before it even gets here. Is there any other way to go through a "hiver Québecois"? Pierre can keep that one but I understand that is not under his control. There is nothing on the TV. Shelley will learn to knit she promises.

The evening shifts at McDs to pay for it will be interesting. Working at Ed Ms hay field getting in that third cutting will now have a purpose. Being a ticket scalper for the Patriots is not one of my growth businesses but I will work at it.

All worth it ... and is there any other way to heat???? I even have cheap anthracite .... life is good.

Wow CN you sure got a keeper there.

I declare, some folks just can fall into it anyplace they go. Yes, I am very envious of you. You guys are really getting me interested in these antique burners even though I am a boiler guy.

You can redeem yourself by posting photos of the CN install when it's finished, no exceptions. :)

Heresy! Good job you live a safe distance from Rouses Point or you might get your tires slashed.

Ha-Ha-Ha.
You guys are so funny here on the forum. I just decided to see what was going on here and discovered that CN was the new star of the forum LOL. In fact, selling the Sunny is just like the lost of an honest and good friend. Never had a burner like the Sunny. We got many Vermont C wood stoves, one VC coal stove BUT none can even come close to what the 1874 gave us as TOTAL satisfaction on every sides.
And for the price question, if someone take A LOT AND A LOT of time to look for a Baltimore, restored or full of rust, you will discover that CN got a real good deal, that stove did a perfect heating job for the 5 Yrs we got it, plus it is complete, original and has even the original magazine.
Pierre
