Repointed all but 2 brick. Made them from noxram. Repointed WM
bricks 20 years ago , they still look good.

The whole bottom of stove needs repolished from the sweat dripping off my chin and Easter basket.

 I'll bet very few of your neighbors were working in an 80* garage today.

I thought for sure you would post the other pic for the oil and propain burners to cry over.

I'll post this picture for the benefit of the guests visiting the forum who are struggling in this below zero weather with the high cost of oil, propane, pellets, or electric heat, and are considering the advantages of switching to coal.

Working on the Clarion 115

.PNG | 1.7MB | Screenshot_2018-01-06-20-37-31.png

For those of us with an attached garage, when the outside temperatures drop down in the single digits or below and the wind is howling we have a number of choices.

Rather than crack our windows open to grab a little fresh air and attempt to raise the outside temperature a bit, opening the door into the garage is another option available for a coal burner to shed some excess heat and create a comfortable 80* area to work on our projects.

Again, most of our members take working or lounging around the house in shorts and shirtless in the dead of the winter for granted, this post is for the benefit of our guests.

The original bricks are in. Don't look to bad, The black furnace cement should flake off on test fire.

Next is massaging barrel seam flat spot, so back pipe flange sets better against barrel.
Going to use 8 pound sledge as anvil, and smack with smaller hammers. Do not have any body shop tools yet.
Might need to use 38 ounce Estwing with meat tenderizer end.

Nice job on those bricks! Did you cement both sides?

Speaking of barrel seam, back in the day they sure went to great lengths casting barrel to pipe flange with a channel to allow space for the seam. Why not offset the seam to one side or the other, no need to cut through the seam...just sayin'

Just ground a weld champher on back side, soaked in water for an hour.Put cement on crack, and champher, clamp.

New barrel already cut for load door and clinker door. Old barrel they cut through the folded seam.

It is almost the same size as d.s 1500. The 115 holds 6 pounds less.
