My heater made an improvement today. It's a convertible, took swing top off
completely. Getting more heat pouring off the oven.

Do the same with mine MB. I use-ta put a kettle of water up there, on a wire trivet, and the water dissipates in no time at all. Can't keep up with it, so I just rely on my humidifier. It does radiate more heat, like you mention. Enjoy.

Can't say for sure. Fire pot was a little lower this evening. Doing better at clearing ashes. Also burned leftover out of D.S.

That's an interesting question Mike. Didn't think the combustion chamber would know if it was "topless" or not. :?

Haha! A few more BTUs radiated to the house would mean a few less went up the chimney ;)

I'm going to say no. Same draft, full of fuel, with all the same air settings.
Shouldn't burn more or less.

What-da-ya mean Mike, I had some "freebies" (and then some), entering my house a few weeks back, when I removed my Bonnet to try and capture some extra radiant heat, like MB, and found I had never install the "hot plate cover"(?), that sits under the bonnet. Was wondering why my CO detector had gone off. :o

Where do I start before the thread gets totally high jacked. If I take the bonnet off my stove the temp on the flue pipe going into my chimney should go down...it doesn't.
The bonnet and finial have way more surface area than the bowl to radiate heat.
