I'm selling a number 6 base heater. It's one of the best I've ever come across. It comes with a new sheetmetal jacket , new grates , spark guard , frame and comes a mint original cast elbow w/ check. It also has Sunnys glenwood Fire brick molds. It's all complete and ready to put in use. $ 3,500.00

Wilson,
Are those fire bricks 'glued' to the pot, or is it a 'custom snug fit'? My opinion, they look real good.
Cheers

Sunnyboy are your firebricks only for the no.6 or do you also have no.8 bricks?

I made the molds a whisker too :D long so that they can be fitted snugly, or a bit loose, or glued in place.

However, if not fitted too loosely, the interlocking bottom edge of the bottom row bricks, plus the beveled ends of all of the bricks when all are installed, make it so that the bricks cant fall into the firepot when there is no coal.

During operation the bricks can't fall in because of the outward pressure of the coal bed.

As I said, they can be glued in, and my original Glenwood firebricks that were used as patterns for the molds that Wilson has, showed evidence that they were glued in at one time. But, I think that contributed to their many cracks by not allowing the bricks to "float" - to shift around slightly to be able to compensate for temperature expansion/contraction differences within firebed.

Plus, gluing them in place, that makes replacement of a damaged brick a high risk of breaking other bricks just to get out a damaged one.

Sorry Blue, just made the molds for the #6, and they won't fit the #8. The #8 having a larger diameter fire pot, the curvature of the bricks will be off and leave gaps at the ends of the bricks. Plus, If I remember correctly the #8 pot is an inch higher than the #6. If so, then the top inch of the pot won't be protected.

However, they may fit the Wings Best and the Herald, base heaters that are so similar to the Glenwood #6 ?????
