First and foremost I must say without the assistance and willingness of one of our members "auntievintage" I would not be making this thread.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO AUTIEVINTAGE!!!!!!
I was not able to make the 432 mile round trip to procure this stove...after speaking with auntievintage she took the bull by the horns and traveled in my absence to secure the stove. We recently met and I now have a baseburner to prepare for winter.
I look foreward to the discovery and rebuild this season.
edit: in my haste I left the ash pan/ air inlet door behind, a simple yet embarrassing fix.

cool, very happy for you.

can the door be packed and shipped ?

I believe so steve, the more I look at it the more it looks like a Crawford 30 or 40.KingCoal wrote:cool, very happy for you.

The door will make it home, there appears to be a stove railroad in Maine as well! ...shipping is also possible.

Congrats! Looks suspiciously familiar to me. Oh yeah, just like the one that takes the chill off my garage before firing the boiler for the winter! They are a nice little stove. Am thinking about making a new ash pan for mine as the original leaves a lot to be desired. Should I get around to it I'll make one for you too with that half round area in the back.
My only advice for you? Get yourself a 2' length of brake line and bend it so you can slice from the bottom of the grates. She will choke out on ash if you let it but will also burn for an easy 12 hours. I have seen it go for 24 easy enough with a slice and shake.

Oh, when you get a minute please take a pic of the cap on the backpipe for me. I still need to make one. All in good time I say.

NICE! I like the looks of it as I've always like the looks of the Crawfords. Whats the fire pot diameter on it?

Welcome to the club Mike!
You will wonder how you got along without one
It appears an early BB (AFAIK) as no secondary air seems available in the load door.
Let's see some pics of the ash clean out and fire pot "crown"
Methinks you have a Crawford 1st cousin.

here yah go...it's cast iron with one small chip, not big enough to hinder it's purpose. It sits inside the pipe which appears original and in outstanding shape. The collar with the damper between the pipe and stove has furnace cement around the joints, I made find cracked pieces when I dismantle...maybe we can talk turkey about parts casting for each other in the near futurecabinover wrote:Oh, when you get a minute please take a pic of the cap on the backpipe for me. ...off to work soon, will talk later. feel free to p.m. me but I will be busy until tomorrow evening.

The round disk in the center of the door can be turned to line up with openings in the door, you can see a small notch on the disk which allows secondary air in and can be stopped with a simple turn of the disk.scalabro wrote:Welcome to the club Mike!
