Wilson,
Many 'thank you' to your granddaughter. I would enjoy a couple of pics of the 'Herald' before I get there next week to pick it up. 'Sunny Boy' (Paul), this 'Herald' is for real, absolutely!!!
Cheers

DF,
Oh, I'm sure it is. But you know that many of us still love to see pix of those old beauties restored. And some of us  can't resist a chance to give ya a bit of razzing over such a wonderful moment. :D With Wilson's skills I have no doubt it will be a well running stove that I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

And, I hope you get to spend more time with Wilson - a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend time - plus get to continue the tour you started last time ! ;)

Paul

I started another home Herald #14 today. Blasted and painted the ash pit, already had the barrel made when I made the one for D Frost. This stove I bought without the back pipe and I am fitting a complete #116 Glenwood back pipe that I recast. It will work out fine and be a nice swap. Gonna go find some grates and do some more blasting.

Very stately. Looks right at home. Can't wait to hear about the performance comparisons.

That hearth has been there since the mid 1950's. I have only replaced an 8" thimble down to a 6". The Chubby had a blower which distributed the heat. I'm going to use low speed, 110V, wall mount fans with the 'Herald'. No hurry, I like Summer!!!!
Wifey(Lillian) and I prefer the dull nickel, so, we're going to try to save the skirts with elbow grease. We have my mothers 'Quaker Auto' cookstove, and it has the dull nickel. Hopefully, the shine will come back on the 'Herald'.
Wilson did a great job on this one, and as the above pics show, he's refurbishing another 14" Herald Oak.
That was 'Christmas in July' for us.
Cheers
