I too visited Wilson, yesterday, and everyone is right. He is a fine gentleman.
Because I wasn't prepared for what to expect, I invited my elderly mother to travel along, because she lives not too far away.
I made my trip from Ct, to lower Mass, with a stop-off in Providence to drop my daughter off at College. Figured I'ld kill 3 stones with one bird, by visiting my mother and shoveling out her yard, then on to Wilsons, later on in the afternoon. And you're right in that the area has its share of snow mounds. Wilson had carved out a parking spot, and a path to his house. He greeted us at the door, and what a treat to see, what little we could see, (due to the excessive snow, and limited time I had to stay). He's a man I think I could talk to for hours, and with his museum of stoves and paraphernalia, we would never run out of topics for conversation. I can't wait to go back in the better weather, and do some more business with him. Definitely full of knowledge and personality, and refreshing to know there's still people like him, passionate about his hobby/business. I'ld give the experience "5 stars".

LOL Panch. I wish I could afford a rebuilt stove. He fixed me up with a replacement draw center for my G111. "Draw center". See how effortlessly that flows off my tongue? Wilson and William taught me that. "DRAW CENTER". Why the hell it's called that, I'll never know. Maybe because it "draws" off center? I don't know. If it were up to me, I'ld call it a "grate fork". But hey, what do I know?

Thanks Wilson.
I'm sure Dollar will love to see pix too. Hopefully, he won't have to buy a new key board because of "drool damage".

Wilson,
"Looking good" Not a whole lot of difference. Are the shaft diameter the same? 'Back in the day' in Taunton, it looks like it was 'monkey see, monkey do'. Thanks for PICS, Wilson.

Man, talk about simplicity and rugged. 4 shaft mounted prismatic grates, driven by spur gears, and a manual crank handle. Built like an old GMC. Nice looking set-up. (How 'bout some Torrington needle brgs on the ends of the shafts, for a little more smoothness?)

The glenwood grates have one more tooth on each grate bar. The herald has the same size shaft, same length, larger teeth , but one less on all bars. the glen. mod oak 114 has a pat. date 1906, as the herald 14 displays a date of 1911. did herald copy glen. And how about the early Fancy herald 14 did they use the same grate system?,pat. date around 1904.who copied who, the were Cleary very similar?????D-frost wrote:Wilson,

UPDATE: Wilson has notified me that the 'Herald' is ready for the 'road trip' to N.H. Yahoooo!!! Christmas in July!!! Another 'attaboy' for Wilson. I'm psyched. I got a cold beer and sat down beside 'Chubby' and told him he wasn't leaving, he's just moving to the basement to keep the pipes warm.
I hope everybody had as happy a 4th July as mine has turned out.
