I'm not sure if this stove's been discussed before, but there's someone selling what looks like a Crawford No.2 BH in Framingham MA.

Hi Chris, you list a Crawford #2 in your list of stoves. Is this a stove with the suspended firepot where, when in base-heater mode, the fire does a 180* reversal, flows down around the firepot, down the sides and base of the ashpan box, then up a back pipe. ??

What is the measurement from the floor to the top of the flue pipe flange on the back pipe??

Yes, but....this is a full base heater, ie the gas path travels underneath the ashpan to fully heat the base. It's an improved version of a base heater if you will.

You can put the exhaust flange where ever you want it on the back pipe. Mine is 23 inches off the floor.

Gekko - Thanks for responding to LS Farm's question.

My Crawford No. 2 is in storage and a bit hard to reach right now. I've added a picture of it taken when I brought it home back in October, 2013. As you know, it's missing its suspended fire pot and nickel trim. But, for $200, it seemed a great deal.

I hope to have those Fuller & Warren pics ready to send you later today. Sorry for the delay - been very busy!

I need to call Emery as to the status of my No. 3, which he's been restoring since December. He probably hasn't been able to do much (sand blasting), since it's been so cold.

This looks like a good prospect. If I didn't have a Crawford already, I would take a day off of work and go get this one. After a long Winter with my Crawford 40, I have nothing but praise for these stoves. The efficiency of these things simply boggles the mind.

I'm not sure about LS Farm, but I currently have three flu's.

I hope a member gets this beauty.

But, it is a bit expensive (depending on condition).

That's why you have a wad of cash when you go to look at it. If you find that you want it, then; you make an offer right then and there. 600 bucks in the hand is much better than 900 in the bush.

Please don't pay too much for stoves. That just encourages others to go for high prices. That is about a 300 to 400 dollar stove around here. By the time you fix it so it is right you will have more in it than it is worth. I walk away all the time and still buy more than I need. Take a long hard look. Do you need to make grates? How about the barrel. The inner barrel always needs work plus the plate that the grates sit. That is all time and money. How about the trip to get the stove. Gas, time, etc, all add up

That is why I will continue to buy stoves I will never need, and send them to you to overhaul ... because since you provided me the opportunity to run one of these beauties I now now have the disease that afflicts us.......thank you!
