Yeah, so how 'bout a comparison report between Cindy and Stew. Like burn times, and tending. Fuel consumption, heat out put ect. ect. :eh:

Yessir! It’s uncomfortable to get within a 2-3 feet of it at 500-600 degrees, it radiates a huge amount of heat. More so than the C40 for a given barrel temp. Probably because it’s surface area is larger than the C40. But I’m finding that since it’s pot is smaller than the Crawford 40, it can only sustain a 14-16 hour burn at these high barrel temps. Last night I really topped it off but found that this morning I was almost out of coal!

Well nothing was/is written down WRT either stove so it’s really just my feeling....

Having said that, the Stewart easily out heats the Crawford at all settings due to the feakish barrel🤪 it’s just that it can’t do it as long. Idling it can go lower than the Crawford due to the fact that it’s a smaller pile of coal and it’s coated firepot seems to allow lower barrel temps while the coal stays ignited.

The C40 is getting a 36 inch barrel and a coated pot this summer.🤘

Does your coal bed level drop down an inch or two after a 14 hour burn?

Maybe a magazine and an 8' step ladder to load it might give you an additional hour or two additional burn time? :D

Impressive and inspiring scalabro.

I was looking online at a Crawford Tropic yesterday that appears to be of similar design.

Can anyone comment on this comparison?

Looking at the rear damper handle location in the vertical pipe, I think that's a back pipe oak, not a suspended pot base burner like Scott's.

I see those on CL often. Basically it’s a Coal only cylinder stove with a backpipe to increase radiant surface area. It’s not a Baseburner though.
