Very nice #s Scott.
I have always measured barrel temp at the top. I was told to never let the top of the barrel get over 700* for chance of over firing. But this means that the base of the barrel will be over 1000* with surface temp. You are doing a top and bottom barrel temp measurement. It will be interesting to see were she climbs when its time for you to open her up......

How did the old timers do it with no fancy magnetic thermometers, mano gauges or IR guns. How the heck did they not over fire there units???

Ok since I’m shut down until Friday night I figured it’d be the ideal time to add two more fixed secondary vents (.1520 - #24 bit) in the load door and remove some mica. This will hopefully improve this stoves affinity for “sneezing” :P

Don't tell us you've been looking like Wiley coyote (holding an exploded sleeve of TNT, blinking and all charbroiled), after you load your stove. Are those the notorious "puff-backs" people talk about Scott?

Finally some cold forecast around here in Western Ma. this Wednesday....overnight lows in the single digits.

I’m ready.

This stove is ridiculous, it throws way more heat than the C40 due to its larger barrel surface but it needs to be fed more because of the smaller pot. So far I’ve only opened the primary air shutter 1/8” :o

88°! Man, you could be sunning yourself in your bathing suit, with lots of suntan lotion. Windowstats or what? And Mike is right. That is a nice window.
