Hello, I just became new member and I am interested in finding out about the coal stove that came with the house I bought. the info I have is

Elmira Stove Works

The tine label in the rear states,
ULC (Underwriters Laboratories of Canada)
Model: Oval 19
No. 342591 C
Wood or anthracite

It seems to be in very good condition and was in the kitchen when we moved in. Key word, "was". This thing is heavy and I have the injuries to prove it.

Can anyone tell me how old it is and how much I could sell it for? Also, how to advertise in my area to sell it? I live in Marblehead, MA. Thank you.

I can tell it was used but then must have been for show. I noticed they capped the chimney with concrete. The lady was 92 years old and the nut coal (she left 40+ bags) must have been too much to handle. So now I want to find someone who would appreciate it.

Somebody near by could probably come, do you a favor & get it out of your house--you don't want any junk like that taking up space in your new place anyway.

Do you have any pictures before you removed. I love old houses and would like to see how it was set up. Maybe kitchen too if it hasn't been remuddled. Welcome to the forum, alot of nice guys and alot of info.

This is where the new stove is. The guy built Wendy's restaurants so everything is brick.

I think its a reproduction because of the label. Don't get me wrong as it may be worth more because of that. Lehmans used to sell, and maybe they still do, an Oval stove.

Get someone to come in and open that chimney back up and fire that sweet baby up with all that nut coal you were graced with!!!! A beauty like that plus the correct size coal falls in your lap (hopefully not literally) begs to be fired.

that's a fine repro and sized great! Its worth a whole lot more than an original in terms of a cook/heat stove (originals tend to be so heavy and so large sometimes they are not useful), I don't know what these cost new but that would give you some indication of its used value, it appears this company is overseas and if they aren't available here that could add to its value as well. Does it have that water tank? the coal grate? etc?... this lil' sucker prolly cost a whole lot of money! It would be perfect for a cabin in the woods that has no power running to it (in upstate Maine, NH, that thing would be perfect!)

" MODEL 1902 ~ OVAL COOKSTOVE
(Model 1903 with reservoir) Warms up to 1,800 square feet Solid cast iron cooking surface 2.4 cubic foot oven - largest available on any cookstove
Upper warming cabinet
Top or front fuel loading
Large firebox for improved efficiency Ash pan on sliding track Options for hot water needs: 5 gallon copper reservoir with spigot or hot water jacket Optional Coal Grate Kit Optional Heat Shield for reduced installation clearances "

I agree with Fred.... Im right near Marblehead, we should have me come get that right outa their for ya', you don't need any old rusty dirty stoves around toothy

So my best bet is craig list it in NH, ME? Someone told me of a place in Middleton, MA that sell and buy these type of stoves.
Does anyone know of any places in Eastern New England to advertise this? I get local craiglist replies stating that they will have there "representative" come by with payment after I give all my contact info. I learned my lesson after I adopted a Nigerian orphan. lol.

They are still being sold. One just like it under a different name. Can't remember the name. Not cheap. Yours might be from the 1980s when a smaller model sold for about $1000.

I wish I could use it so I could come steal it from you for about 800. I think it should go for close to double that. I think it is the best looking cook stove ever designed.

Have patience, good pictures with ad. There is not a huge market so you need just the right person.
https://www.agamarvel.com/heartland/products/wood ... ookstoves/
Heartland is the name, here is a link. Price $6400

There is one on Ebay that has been relisted and is asking 1600.
