My wife and I installed our Glenwood Base Heater No. 8 this past weekend. It sure was a lot of work and we are 98% complete. The first fire was to burn off the new paint and as William warned me it was terrible. We have had 2 coal fires so far and I will attach some photos. Please let me know what you all think.

Chad

I guess it's okay...
It looks like something that I'd be willing to take off your hands so you can get things back to the way they were. ;)

Actually, the stove and the installation both look outstanding! I am sooooo jealous of all you guys with these beautiful antique stoves. They not only heat well but they're works of art and add so much to the homes.
Congratulations on a great job!

Chad,

Outstanding job and great looking install of a super looking stove! You just wait and see how that baby pumps it out when it gets really cold. It always takes a few days to heat soak the house and then you just maintain. The beauty of coal is that the colder it is the better it performs. By the way, you can stuff that right full up to the top of the pot, but you already knew that. ;)

Sure looks like a nice clean stove you have, that no 8 is going to crank out some serious heat. They are very flexible in the operating ranges they can heat also from lows to highs.
Enjoy your new stove it looks Great !

Very hard to add some more words to the good previous comments . Very nice stove, installation, deco...both of you did a perfect job and it's so nice to see a burning stove now.
Thanks for sharing.

The amount of heat that the No. 8 puts out is absolutely incredible. I can't wait to fire her up for the season. My wife and I both love the smell of coal burning.

Excellent job. You still have a little learning to do, but; you'll get the hang of it. You now officially reside on Coal Stove Easy Street. The Glenwood and Base Burner family just keeps growing and growing. The more the merrier.

Beautiful stove and set up. I just have one question. What is the hole for, on the rear horizontal pipe? If it's not going to be used for something I would seal it just to be on the safe side.

I will block up the hole. It was my first attempt in installing the MPD. I was off a little and had been working on the stove install for 12 hours that day. I am surprised it came out as good as it did. Thanks for the attention to detail. Chad

Our coal bins in the barn. The bin on the left has 2 tons and the bin on the right has 4 tons. We are very fortunate to have an old barn that is 120 feet long and 30 feet wide.
