There is a glenwood #8 in todays local auction complete and in nice condition. What is it worth? I have stoker boilers in my places and have no clue as to the value of a stove but it sure is pretty with all that nickle trim.$300? Please comment if you know what they sell for used. Thanks!

I'd jump on a #8 for $300! If the grates look good, everything is tight, no cracks; look into the baseburner part, pick up the trap door in the ash pit and look as far back into the cavity and make sure there are no cracks or warpage. I'd shove my hand in there and feel... Look under the stove in that same area and especially towards the back. All looks good? I'd probably bid $1000 to $1500.

Agreed, it's worth way more than $300 if it's all there and in decent shape. Look for the secondary air ring at the top of the firepot too.

You know vermontash, if I was not so much in love with my Bride (both), I would cross the border with the $300.Can. LOL.
If in good cond. jump on it. Best luck

Hopefully you were smart and bought this stove. I looked at it and it is very nice. It even has the nickel plated draft covers. This is worth every penny to buy and have restored. I would like to have a No 8 like that, but; I have enough stoves already. If I get another one, one has to go.

Is a No 8 bigger than a No 6 ? What are the main differences between these both stoves ?

The No 8 is quite a bit larger than the No 6. I'd love to own a No 8 - I'd put it my basement and heat my entire house plus basement with one stove... (Don't know what I'd do with my No 6 in that case build a workshop?)

No, I don't know any of the numbers for that stove, that's a question for Emery at the stove hospital... I've seen a number 8 sitting next to my #6 - It was visibly quite a bit larger... Maybe a foot taller? All other dimensions were proportionally larger...

Well DJ,
I probably ever saw it somewhere but can't remember: what is the one ( fire P. size) for a No 6? Thanks

Take a look at my No.8 thread, it compares the size side by side. At first look it does not appear lager but they increased every part proportionately. The picture of them side by side looks like the No. 8 is closer to the camera, not they are side by side.
Agree this one looked in great shape. Hope he came home with it.

Pierre,

the Glenwood #6 is 16" firepot and the #8 is an 18" firepot.

DJ, when you get a #8, you can sell me your #6 ! ;)

As I'm thinking about it, the #8 I saw next to mine at the stove hospital when I picked up my restored #6 was not a Glenwood. It was another manufacturer. After your explanation, it jogged my memory a bit. Emery told me that the Glenwood #8 was no where near as big as the one that I was looking at. I don't remember what that one was. Notably larger than the Glenwood though...
