I grew up down "the lake" it is a different world down there now but my mom is still in the same house and my sister is in West Newton. It is a shame you don't want to keep that stove and heat with it. Has it been sold and if not what are the possibilities?

Hi Jessica - I agree with Michael - keep the Stanley.

It is a small world - I left Newton Corner in 2007 to live in Western New Hampshire.

My family moved to West Newton in 1879 from Boston. They owned the Fessenden farm until 1903, when they sold it to Frank Fessenden. I lived on Franklin St. in Newton Corner for 52 years - Newton High School Class of 1970.

I agree Michael. Newton really has changed - too glitzy.

A Thank you to your family, I had a blast sledding down that big hill on the back side of the Fesseden school and over the smallest golf course I have ever seen!

Well as this is for sale on ebay...I think she's past wanting to keep the coal stove. Hopefully, it will find a good home and continue its use.

Just wanted to let you all know that the stove has found a good home. Someone from this forum purchased it, will refurbish it, and is planning to use it in his Victorian home. I am so happy that it will be used! Thanks to you all for the great information and encouragement on keeping/restoring the stove. I have a feeling at some point we will look to install one. nice old stove. give it a try first. see how it works. may work just fine as is. full on resto going to cost serious $$ maybe test water first. later if you really like it, & want better cosmetics, then get the resto. I wouldnt jump into resto both feet first. that is very expensive proposition.

Ummmm. Dusty, . . look two posts above yours. You'll see where she says she sold the stove.
