I could never make it in show business as they know to quit when you are ahead. Just one more encore then ...

A product of deep South breeding, he always had a gift for the English language. That you guys guessed from his posts but did you know he wrote a six part miniseries that Ted Turner wanted he also wrote the music to. Did you also know he was a gold medal winning harpsichord player. Here is an early photo of him performing with Mary a later friend and girlfriend.

Here are a few pictures taken a few weeks ago when Steve and I had the pleasure of reinstalling possibly the most famous Glenwood #6 in the world.

The smile on his face and the twinkle in his eyes as we set it in place, will help soften the pain in my heart.

Paulie

i was sure you were going to catch a cane swat over that.

a night to remember for sure.

OK, just one more once.

He wrote a massive six hour mini-series about two friends who allowed the hatred and envy of those around them to destroy everything that made them happy. He wrote the details of every scene as well as putting together the soundtrack. It is a story about hope, redemption, betrayal and what really binds us together and the professors loved it. They used parts of it for teaching and would ask him into their classes to talk about it. As I said he got an offer from Ted Turner to buy it. They wanted all rights to it. He wanted the novel rights, but they said all or nothing. He said no thanks. The play is called, "A Change In the Weather."

It can certainly be argued that William’s “6” IS the most famous and significant “6” on earth

Rest In Peace sir. You’re not the reason I have a Glenwood but are the reason I have a base heater. If I had seen your videos and read your posts prior to purchasing my first coal stove a base heater would have been my first. Special thanks goes to you for introducing my wife to coal and allowing me to pursue it with encouragement, not all wives barely out of their 20’s will go for that now, thank you for helping her keep an open mind and for your knowledge and willingness to share it, and thank you to everyone on this forum for providing a community where that sharing and knowledge is welcomed and encouraged, I don’t post much but read almost everything and everyone here is a class act. Prayers and thoughts with Emery and the family.

And even minutes after posting that I realize he’s still teaching as I went to tend the stove for the evening, even without having met him, I see his spectacles looking at me saying you don’t have a base heater but a base burner....his legacy will live on as long as we are here to remember.

Obit, sure but Kathy needs to write it. He was always not so serious..

Part B of the Pullman story ... as he was doing a little stand up comedy which included a martini. The speakeasy (as he called it) train was a lot of work for him. He had to get actors and women who could sing and dance on a moving train. He wrote the script and directed the whole thing while playing the principal villain. Everything worked well with blocking in narrow spaces and the constraints of time. After eight trains I am sure he was tuckered out.

Of course the crowd loved it. Hmmm, how do we recreate this.

Thanks Simon.
Anyone who gets bored doesn't have to click on the thread. Your posts and pix are a wonderful tribute to the man who is responsible for so many of us enjoying the beauty and functionality of our antique stoves and the warmth they bring us.

I for one think you should keep 'em coming !!!!
