Has anyone ever heard of a Campbell stoker? This ad was in Ohio Retail Coal Manual 1954 that I have. It looks very interesting.

This is a Bituminous stoker.. there was a whole industry that developed around converting hand feed coal boilers/furnaces to stokers using these underfeed stokers..
I have several 'Stoker News' monthly publications/trade newspapers on this industry.. Quite interesting, they were trying to keep the coal industry going, against the competition from the 'flip a switch' OIL heat systems.

I have a "flip a switch" oil heat system, that's why I burn coal!

- Coal Size/Type: Warm weather smaller coal. Cold weather larger coal.
- Other Heating: Oil Furnace Backup when repairs are needed
Iron Fireman.....
Had one of those jewels in my house when I bought it....
It was much more work keeping that running than feeding my hand fired hot air furnace
I considered it a "learning experience"
without it I wouldn't know anymore than how to turn up a thermostat for heat.

My Iron Fireman stoker is a retrofit stoker, meant to be inserted through the ashpan door of a big handfired boiler or Furnace..
I counted the different makers of underfeed retrofit stokers in those trade papers I have,, somewhere around 15 different makers mentioned or advertised in the papers. Names like Delco, Fairbanks, and other big names.. this was in the late 30's through early 40's.
