Another heating season has come around.

Had the official lighting of the fire ceremony last Saturday (11/12/2022).
Well stocked for coal.
Finished the winter with my coal bin Approx. 1/3 full.
(8 wideX16 long X7 high.
Got 4 tons a few weeks ago.
$125/ton plus hauling.

Nice looking coal.

As usual, I could have more wood, although I don't use a lot.
After this season, probably need to have my chimney inspected

Hope all the old gang is still here and doing well.

Interesting coal note.
When I was young there seemed to be a strip or deep mine on every hill here in Armstrong County.
Apparently, there's not one pound of coal mined here anymore.

My coal was brought up from West Virginia

In some ways it did.
My mom always said that the older you are the faster the time goes.
Turned 72 this year and time seems to be flying

I have a rant about ash buckets.
They don't last very long.
And pretty expensive!
$50+

I'm guessing the acid in the askes and the buckets sitting on the damp cement in the basement helps the deterioration.

I did find buckets at Home Depot for $20 so I ordered 2.

Rant over.

I'm slightly disappointed, it was a short rant.

Are you using galvanized tubs? Mine aren't showing any deterioration after 3 years.

This was one of my minor ones.
When I work up a major one, I'll share.

These are the black metal ones.
Heck, they're $50-$60 on Amazon or Home Depot.

Didn't notice any galvanized ones

Ive used these forever. I can get 2 years out of a pail if I put indoors in the off season. They have a larger version for a couple dollars more. https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/behrens-12-qt-ho ... ens%20pail

I got a few stainless steel mop buckets at an auction for $1 apiece. Work pretty good and have wheels to roll ‘‘em over to the stairs.
