After several years of burning KY bit in my Gentleman Janitor and having a difficult time getting coal screened small enough for it, I decided it was time try a hand fired unit that will burn just about any size coal that will fit through the door, so I chose the Sf270, it has a switch that let’s you choose between natural draft or forced air draft. I am in my 2nd week of burning and playing with over the fire air settings, so far so good. The boiler holds about 35-40 gallons of water, but is adequate in heating our 3000sq ft home so far. If the temps are above 40 it only needs to be tended once a day, below that twice a day.
The unit was made by alternate heating systems on the old Harman patent, they did a very nice job, the boiler is very well constructed and carries an ASME H stamp, which I think means it can be used for steam.
My ash auger from the Gentleman Janitor bolted right up and was an easy fit, the unit burn the coal to a very fine powdery ash compared to the granola like ash from the stoker.

Very nice boiler! The 'H' Stamp only means that the welds were certified by a qualified observer who had to be present and watch as they were being applied. Most commercial boilers require it, and some communities also require it for residential boilers.

Sweet! Always admired the ash handling capabilities of some of the systems. Seeing it adapted to modern systems makes me smile ;)

Now you just need the 'butler' companion robot to haul them outside and dump them ;)

If I had more time and budget for it, I'd build one, obviously a different design ;)

Wow, impressive! Thanks for posting that link!

One tub of ashes about every 3rd day doesn't seem like too much, but it's okay to drool over the auger, right? ;)

Guys it's just a simple 3.5 inch chicken feed auger, It has worked fine for years, just don't pump any hot embers through it, the discharge funnel is plastic.

Don't just drool, if I can do it so can you.

Of coarse it’s all simple..

How much $ though?!

Shipping included, cuz I can’t find any flex augers in my area.
