I found this on craigslist and its about 4 hr drive for me, It will be a task to get it out of this ole gents basement but it will be a day trip and then some but the price was right and he has been so good to return calls and send pictures ect,,, He bought the house with unit and doesn't like to fool with fire, so he is selling it, he just drained it and put on craigslist, it looks decent and 800 is a steal if it works, its a gamble and I can weld if it needs a repair , but hoping it does not. It comes with a couple of pumps too!!! and of course all wiring he can give me that is easy to get to, It does not have a DWC so if anyone out there has one I would like to purchase from you. Pictures coming soon!!! this will give me a taste of what it might take to warm up my radiant, I may need a bigger boiler but at least this will give me a unit to test and see what I may need, heck, it may be all I need!!!!

Good luck with the basement extraction. Be careful!

Remove all the control components before moving it. Bashing them will be an unpleasant suprise.

I ran the 90 in my previous home, very good boiler, always did 12 hour or more tends, I burnt pea size.

I moved a one piece 900 pound boiler up a set of wooden basement stairs with zero head clearence...as *RobR* said, be carefull.

thanks guys for the vote of confidence, the guy has sent me pictures of the stove in the basement in relation to the door it has to go out of and it has a concrete ramp to slide it up, I have a dr friend who loaned me a hd gurney with osb already attached and I have some wheel dollys for under a car , I am taking bars, blocks, jacks, lots of tools, a trailer with a winch and snatch block, and lots of straps. I am 60 , still got all my fingers and toes and plan to keep it that way!!!! slow and steady!!!! I am bringing this girl home!!! I am going to sell the three season old clayton 1802 g soon, one friend has first refusal, so we will see how that goes , I will take some pictures for everyones enjoyment!!!!

I have my radiant pumps now on a wall near a tankless water heater, its a ways from where the new Yorker wc 130 is going,,,, I ran the pex from my existing coal furnace that heats the water with domestic coils over to the set up in the corner, where I did put a small expansion tank, should I put another expansion tank near the wc 130 ? like I see in lots of pictures of boiler setups. I have real dependable generator that is automatic that comes on in case of power outage,, and I have plans to use my garage floor radiant as a dump zone since its like Siberia in there,, and maybe put in a ceiling hung water to air heater for dump zone,,, I actually run my pumps constantly now for my house radiant, and I imagine I will have to do the same with the boiler, I could only hope it would warm my floor up enough to give the pump a break!!!! enough of my rambling, should I buy another expansion tank or no? if so, get a big one? or small>? thanks!

No need for a 2nd tank, unless the 1st one is too small. The new boiler will probably more than double the amount of water in the system, so is a good change you will need to add an expansion tank or replace the one there currently.

Constant circulation will keep everything at a very steady temperature, and provide great comfort in the home. Go for it.

thanks Rob R,,, I forgot to mention a week or so ago I bought an 80 gallon storage tank and added it to the present system,,, it has helped but I am looking forward to the warmer water temps,,, heading out tomorrow morning.

Expansion Tank = diaphragm or bladder tank for every bit of hot water takes up more volume than the cold fill water did in a sealed/closed loop system. Likewise when boiler goes cold again and shrinks it would create a vacuum, so expansion tank is most necessary.

You should already have one and RobR was woondering if it would be big enough for the increased volume of adding in a boiler full of extra water.

I have been under the weather since our trip on Friday to Farmville Va to get the wc 130. I am just now getting around to posting a few pictures of the day, we travelled about 220 miles from my home to Farmville and found they had more snow on the ground than we did so that made it a little more difficult to get turned and backed into the ramp (that used to be steps) where the boiler had to come up. I went pretty well prepared and had two great helpers. We had to use to snatch blocks to adjust the cable to go off the corner of the trailer, we got the boiler unhooked and over to the door on a good dolly, then winched it up the ramp which was concrete, and onto the trailer,, it all took less than two hours and we tied it down and were on our way, no big problems,, the owner let me have the copper plumbing that was easy to get to and another expansion tank in the deal, some other valves and vents too... here are a few pictures of the day.. tomorrow I plan to remove and replace some of the fittings so I can begin to put new fittings on and prepare to fill with water to test it before putting in place.

not trying to bore anyone but today we offloaded the wc130 with tractor loader after we uncased it and found an eye on top of fire box for lifting. we used oxy acet to heat up some of the fittings and removed them so that we can install some plugs and caps to make sure it holds water, today also we removed the cover ever so carefully from front of domestic water plate area and took a look inside the boiler,,, it looks new!!! there is a tag on top of the boiler that has a serial number and the date they approved the boiler, it was 1983,,, I cant belive that its that old, I think that may have been the date that they got that type of boiler approved,, not that it matters that much now but I may call new Yorker and see if they can tell me anything from the serial number,,, here are a few pics from today, the more we uncover and look the better it gets.

That boiler looks to be in excellent shape and I can’t get over how well built it is... that heavy firedoor should withstand a nuclear blast. Glad to hear that the fittings all came out without a whole lot of fanfare.

the inside of the boiler I am about to install is like new, we removed the plate where the domestic water coil would go and inside its really nice,,, what kind of treatment would you guys steer me towards to keep it this way? and how often should it be tested ? thanks!!
