Those 2 straps wrapped around the lower portion of the pipe will only help hold the bottom of that stack from moving away from the building. Those straps won't give sideways support or prevent the bottom from moving in toward the building. You should have something like the roof braces down there too.

Thank you for that good suggestion.
I'll pick up a piece of conduit when I'm in town today.

Test burn was successful.
I didn't burn down the garage.
8-)

Hard to get burning but, once lit, it burned pretty good.
It's out now because I had to leave for a while and wasn't able to keep an eye on it.

Still have work to do.
Stiffen up the chimney as Windy Hill suggested.
Caulk my flashing and cover the infiltration and heat loss as well as get some fire rating on the ceiling and walls.

My wife is off work tomorrow and if she doesn't want to run around all day, I'll do a more serious test burm.
It's going to be cold

I started a full burn today around 10 AM.

Someone said it will be a little different than my HotBlast and they're right.
I thought I followed the instructions completely
I needed a little more kindling than I thought but once going it got going.

The barrel and top never got as hot as I thought it would.
Perhaps due to where I'm burning.

Here's a couple pics of the fire.
You might see the fire coming through several of the flues on the sides

For those who thought I would heat myself out, here's a couple pics of the construction of the building:

I'll need to plug some holes.

Once I got a real good fire, I closed the air on the ash door and tried some different things with the load door and MPD.

At 6 PM (after 7 or 8 hours) I checked.
Hard crust on top.
Carefully poked down the center and got some flames and cracked the vent on the ash door a little.

Finally, here's my two favorite redheads.

You recognize them.
Not many do.

Had German Shepherds for 40 years.
First one was the best ever after Rin Tin Tin.
Last one was dumb as a box of rocks and cured me.

My daughter wanted her own dog and we got the one on the right.
Now have 3.
2 girls and 1 boy.

I love them.
They're smarter than me

I do have a couple goats.
Only chickens in the beginning

Our herding training leaves something to be desired

Looking to see how the stove performs tomorrow.
Closed up a lot of gaps.

Plan to fire in the morning and tend all day
Supposed to go to high 30s and wind.

I used this insulation:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Reflectix-50-sq-ft-Refle ... -L/3011904

It's not a very high "R" but I only have a small space

Will do, Fred.

If I can make it like a sauna, I'll see if I can find some bathing beauties
