That was interesting.

Went to the garage to stoke up the fire and it was almost out.
Last night I filled the barrel and reduced the damper openings on the primary and MPD.
Apparently, too much?

I took a pan of ashes out and there was soot all over the snow.
It was a little hard to turn the grates ( I lost the tool somewhere) but the ashes were different than in the past.

Previously, they were all powder but, today, they were lumpier.
There were some fines in the coal I used.
Wonder if that stopped the air.

Also, wondering if poor draft could be one of my problems.
I don't have a mano on this stove.

I knew that my stack was barely high enough when I put it in.
It draws but hasn't sucked one of the cats in yet.

I had to restart the fire on the top today because I had a magazine that was still over 1/2 full

(I could change my mind in 2 hours)

I haven't fired the WM in a while but have been thinking about it.

Given enough burning time, it will take the worst of the chill off to make it tolerable to work.
But, I can do more in 5-10 minutes of burning the propane torpedo heater.

Since I already have it in, I'm going to fool with it some more to see how much is operator error, inadequate for the poorly insulated area or ???
If I can't get it to do decently, I'll probably take it out.
I can use the floor space in my tiny shop.

I'm not feeling a good return in warmth on the coal burned and monkeying around trying to heat a place I'm only using for a short while every day or two.

Resurrecting this old thread because I've made a decision on this stove.

I didn't use it at all last winter and it takes a lot of space out of my already small workshop.

So, I decided to get rid of it.

It has sentimental value.

Does it have any other value?
Or just take it to the scrap yard?

Thanks, as always.
