I would experiment with it you can better control heat by closing it or opening it back up. Also once the gases are burnt it just cools the stove down if it is wide open.

Yes, 10.5-11.3% ash is considerable but is also manageable. The BTU's are really good so
you will get a lot of heat out of the Warm Morning.
The analysis does not show what the vol's are. It likely is high vol coal.
Also throwing some dry fines into a good flame will make a much bigger flame
very quick.

Thanks.
I've been playing with anthracite as well. Bought 1000 lbs to try.
I've noticed that it burns longer and hotter and stays loose where as the bit clumps together as it gets burning. Doesn't last as long as the anthracite either.
Does all this seem to be normal?

Was wondering if I could throw a small bed of anthracite let it get going then throw some bit on top if this would be okay to do? Like I said earlier, I get the bit free from work so I like to use as much as this as I can. Just want to get longer burn times as I'm away for 12 hours or more.
Once again thank you to all that has replied and helped me out here. Greatly appreciated.
