Anyone ever add a spin draft to the door of a combo furnace? Looking for a better way to burn the volitale gasses of than leaving door cracked.

Secondary Air Distribution System
Here a place to start. Others have done similar and they may be in the thread as well. Good luck and don't forget the pictures!

Adding secondary air through the door will probably help SOME with burning off volitales.crzybowhntr wrote:Anyone ever add a spin draft to the door of a combo furnace? Looking for a better way to burn the volitale gasses of than leaving door cracked.
Ideally you need to evenly distribute the air across and somewhat over top of the fire if at all possible. And, if at all possible heat the air somehow. The hotter the air is the more easily it will combust.
I'm not familiar with your stove so none of the above may be possible.
I did this in my HB stove and it works incredibly well. If you're interested you can look through this thread and see if there is anything that might be of help.
Pre-Heated Secondary Air Modification…Is This Possible?
The one thing that I would consider doing if I could do mine again would be to get the secondary air over the fire a little higher. It works well now but I think it may work a little better if it came in a couple inches or so higher.

Lee (screen name Lightning), ran pipe down both sides and just above the firebox of his Clayton furnace to better distribute secondary air over the fire.
The pipes have small holes drilled every couple of inches facing out over the firebed. The end of the pipe extend out the front of the stove to let air in. As the air travels through the pipe it gets preheated.
Seems to work well for his stove.
If your interested, pm him and he can give you more details.

Anyone add spinners for just aesthetic reasons? So you'll be to coolest stove user in the neighborhood? Maybe with neon/LED wheels?
I'm sure that the air flow should be able to rotate a disc or wheel...

Maybe expose the blower fan with a clear panel and mount an LED spinner on that!!davidmcbeth3 wrote:Anyone add spinners for just aesthetic reasons? So you'll be to coolest stove user in the neighborhood? Maybe with neon/LED wheels?
