Well there's still a few small peices of wood that hasn't burned all the way up yet but the stove is red Hott. I have the ashpan out damper open, feed door shut off and the Ashdoor spinner all the way open 6 turns. I shook all the ashes out really well. That may have helped we'll see

It will get too hot under the right conditions. Keep an eye on it. Open the vents on the load door so gases don't build up and flash in the fire box. Close the spinner some if it appears to be getting away from you.

There you go. 8-)

Just member you control the heat output by the underfire air and you control the smoke by the overfire air.

As Lightning said if you need to slow the fire in a hurry then close the under fire air up all the way but leave the over fire air open as normal.

not much, as long as you don't have close neighbors, but, it will clog your pipes faster and use a little more coal.

Your telling me that if I open the feed door draft a little to burn the smoke off it won't make it burn hotter?, won't use more coal?, won't make fire not last as long?

I think Carl meant, if the fire is unstable and pushing smoke out the load door vents, you need to close the spinner some and open the load door vents to get a better oxygen mixture over the fire so the gases will burn steady instead of building up and igniting.

This goes back to what I was saying at the beginning of this thread. You gotta learn how to conrols the fire with the right combinations of over air and under air.

Bit coal produces a lot of soot that will clog your pipe after a while. By giving the fire a generous amount of over the fire air, soot build up won't happen quite so quickly.
