$100/ton picked up or $100/ton+$120 delivery top size is 1" top 1/4" bottom

I kno it will do that. I could set on on 72 even though I want it 76 and it may work out. My House is usually 76-80 in the winter with the wood and me and my wife don't mind. Just walk around in shorts when the snows flyin outside.

Ok Lee. I've finally took my grates out to drill and tap the two so this is no slop. Is there anything else I should do while I have them out? The grates where in there where the holes where V shaped. Seems like u would want them flipped so stuff don't wedge in. Do u wanna mill out the openings any bigger or just leave it alone???

No you shouldn't need to do any milling of the grates' openings. You want the bigger holes facing downward, like you said, so the openings don't act as a funnel and wedge ash and coal into them. Please review this thread for more information..

Did you buy it pre assembled? I think its a mistake by who ever installs the grate system. By looking at the grates, they "appear" to have a top and bottom. I don't think the users manual even specifies which way they go in. So, its a matter of "what works best" scenario

.. With the smaller hole's side down, coal was jamming constantly. I even broke two grate nubs. Also, ash wasn't clearing very well.

So after some observation of the grates, I determined that ash and coal pieces would easily clog the holes in the grates due to the funnel effect of the openings. Then I noticed the grates would sit lower in the grate frame this way, which alleviated the coal jamming issue.

When I bought my stove it was on a skid and all wrapped up with cardboard. It was all assembled. I just had to un wrap and use. But it did appear to be assembled by us stove. Can't remember.

Has anyone every laid a extra row of firebrick on the inside of the existing,
So the the ash will all funnel right down over grate instead of having the 1.5 inch flat on both sides of the shaker grate where ash will lay and build up?

I did see where a guy on here did that. I thought about doing that too. I chose not to since it would reduce the volume of coal you could load in and also the extra layer of firebrick would reduce heat transfer around that area of the firebox. I remedy the build up of ash at that location by running my L shaped poker along those corners and then forcing the coal towards the center as seen in the video I made..
