Possibly weld it, or just put a couple large washers, a bolt/nut and some high temp sealant. Shouldn't be that hard to fix.

I would not buy a used stove its hard to say what else is damaged, but if all that is all that is wrong with it a bolt would probably work okay I wouldn't mess with trying to weld it.

Welcome to the FORUM my friend. If you're sure that is the only problem. By God, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Make sure you put the bolt head inside. ;)

No Fred no, a stove with a hole in it is a very dangerous thing. He must tell me where this stove is so I can go get it. I will take it off the market so that no one will get hurt by buying and using this very defective and dangerous appliance. Someone could burn there eye out ! and I just could not live with myself if that happened... :P

Where is the hole? If it is in the barrel, all you have to do is have a new barrel made. An easy job. Florence Hot Blasts are one of the best stoves for burning Bituminous Coal ever made. No modern stove can touch these in any area of efficiency or performance, especially when using soft coal.
If you have a hole in a cast iron part that may not be so easily repaired. Florence No 77s are quite common in the mid west as 10's of thousands of them were sold. They were very popular stoves for many decades. 200 dollars is dirt cheap for one of these. You could spend a thousand bucks on restoring it and still come out ahead. You will have a beautiful and highly efficient stove.
You want to make sure the hot blast ring is intact inside. This is an iron ring that goes around the top of the fire pot. This provides hot secondary air right on top of the fire to burn the hydrocarbons generated by Bituminous. It will burn the coal very cleanly with little smoke once it gets hot.

Hi John, welcome to the forum . Don't pay attention to Grumpy, he allready has a Florence 77 and a 153 HotBlast..

Just be careful that the firepot is not cracked, or the grate is missing fingers or parts..

As many photos as you can get and post on the forum then we will be glad to assess the stove's condition.

My first response is a big YES buy it, put a bolt and washers through the hole as suggested, but make sure there aren't any additional
cracks or problems..

Did you buy the stove? I think you should, don't let people talk you out of it, they just want it for themselves,,,, this stove can be repaired,,,,
I just finished restoring my #75, Now I'm waiting for the Nickel Parts to come back from the Platers,, :)
