Yes it is throwing heat. The Rosemont is working very well and seems to be helping with draft as well as radiating extra heat.

I wish I could get longer burn times... every 5 hours is just a dump and go senario but after that in the 6-7-8 hour range it takes considerably longer to tend the stove. this makes overnight difficult. Since the stove is in the shop just waking up stoking up and going back to sleep is not as feasible since I wake up considerably once hitting the -22 from the house to the shop.

It is suppose to hold 80 pounds but really only holds about 60-65.
Very impressed with this little heater though since it is holding a 40x50x14 in the low to mid 40s.

Would you be interested in a more suitable (hold longer fire) stove if one were available?

I come across bigger bituminous hand feds and occasional old bit stoker every now and then. And have a reasonable shipping method if you have access to a Fastenal Store.

If you could find one a bit stoker would be great. It just takes a certain size of coal but it would be better for your shop.

I would definitely consider it for sure. I do not have a Fastenal Store that I know of at least in Fairbanks not sure about Anchorage.

Coal stoves are hard to come by in Alaska.

I have my eyes on a Hitzer 82 or 82FA ... that would be new. I think the BTU output would be plenty but not sure about the burn time on our sub-bit. the 82FA says 100K. What ever it is it has to be considerably higher than the Warm Morning... do not get me wrong I love the little stove and it is doing a good job.. Especially since it was a free find in an old barn on a piece of property I purchased.

Coal stoves are hard to come by in Alaska.

I'm seeing that both Fairbanks and Anchorage have Fastenal Stores...

Only caveat, they must have a fork truck on premises, and corporate knows and matches up store that works best.

What about the Hitzer model 55 stove if you want something new?

55 is near 1/2 size of the 82...he wants longer time between tendings.

Mc-- I agree the 55 is a nice looking stove but does not have the rated BTU output that I am looking for. The one thing I have learned is the ratings on the stove for our sub-bit may vary and definitely to get those kind of BTUs and long burn times .. Forget it. I wish each brand would produce a spec sheet (Graph) with burn times and BTU outputs.. at least that way you could see what to expect... I would imagine that the long burn times reported correlate with very low idle and minimum BTU output.

UPDATE... I have been able to ream 9 hours out of the stove... that helps since at least now I can get some sleep. After 9 hours though it becomes a choreographed dance to get her burning again.

-28 last night and she held the line at 45... prior to the temps dropping -2 she was holding the line at 52-55.

have to agree that the stove is actually doing a significant job considering it is still providing nearly a 70* temp. differential starting from a serious negative hole.

this is probably the stove you are looking for.

That was awesome--- I did not see a ash ring on the burn pot -- how do ashes get discarded on that stoker.

The real test for the stove is coming. They have us forecast for -37 next week and where I live it is usually 10 degrees colder than the forecast... we will see what she can do then.
