Powervent Noise

Ok...let me know if I am way off base here, but I looked at a couple of direct vent systems-not the SWG power vent, but the vent where the fan is actually attached to the stove inside the house (keystoker and alaska). They looked great and the noise level really want's all that bad-or at least as bad as I expected.

However, would I be correct to assume that the SWG powervent would be quieter since it appears that the actual fan/motor is located on the outside section of the wall. Does anyone use the powerventer and could comment on the noise level. Also, is there any benefit to having the direct vent vs. a power vent? They both seem to provide the same function of not needing a chimney.

Thanks

I just commissioned my stove with the SWG. Their is a fan noise, but you get use to it rather quickly. If you are in the room you will definitely hear it, but norman conversation is possible. It works for me and no head ache.

K-6 Keystoker with direct vent on the stack end of the unit, very quiet. You will get some noise upstairs even with any pipe going through a wall with a fan attached to it, it seems. But we sleep right over it and not an issue.
