I have an Alaska 140 and the furnace Blower that came with it is a Dayton brand. I'm sure these are not the "best" of quality. So I am wondering if anyone has replaced the blower/motor unit with a "better" quality one? Also is a direct drive more quiet than a belt drive? I was thinking about the idea of a belt drive with the motor outside of the ductwork.

probably just depends on how it's mounted, if you can insulate the blower with a gasket or nylon washers, maybe eliminate the metal to metal that transfers the vibrations. The motor/belt drive may be quieter

look on Grainger or ElectricMotorWarehouse, they have many different blower arrangements.
