Todays winds were a challenge to the barometer set for .06, was seeing several gusts that pegged open the 7" fields baro on a 6" pipe. A 7" is the max that can fit on a 6" pipe.

On one gust I heard outside, ran to the baro and covered it up with foil and looked at the manometer, at max it went up to .22 for a moment ! At that point the loading door vent (bottom of door) was whistling dixie.

Glad for the baro to save heat.

Any other pesonal baro records today ?

Two days ago my baro was pegged fully open nearly all day. Still the manometer seldom indicated over .1 The fire stayed fairly steady through it all. The temp outside was nearly 60*, but needless to say, lack of draft was not a problem.

So go tell Jenn to pick them up...you're too busy sitting in your underwear, playing computer games.

I have shingles in the back yard...which means I'm missing some on the front of the roof...ugh...I guess this is my year to put on the steel roofing. Anyone used the steel stuff?

Let's see... hmm wind, oh yeah, 10pm on xmas eve I went to bed.... at 1:30am just after Santa had left on Christmas day, we lost power. I woke up from the sound of no sound if you know what I mean :D I hooked up the stove to my marine deep cell battery (1:30 am) and inverter and it ran if for 3 hours (I don't think it was fully charged). I checked with PPL and it was going to be a few more hours so I hooked it to my car battery (4:30am), checked with PPL and it will be a few more hours... 2 hours into it and my car battery stated to fail, so I called PPL and new estimate was 11am. So I went up to the shed got out the generator brought it over to the house, got it started, got the stove hooked to it (7am) and at 7:30 the power comes back on. Well hell I've been up since 1:30am might as well get the kid up and do the presents thing... OMG... at 9am I took a shower and nap for 2 hours then got up to help finish setting up for the 1pm Christmas dinner at our house with the family. The wind also took out some of our outside lights and topiaries, and tore off 4 sections of railing around the pool. Last night was the same, with the lights and topiaries taking the blunt of it again.

Uh Raystown is bigger.

And there is one bigger than Raystown but it's on the border of Ohio.

edit: Pymatuning Reservoir is the largest. But its in Ohio also.

Did a friends gambrel barn in a day with a bunch of people!
Looks good and lasts a long time, loud in the rain and hail, snow slides off in massive sheets too!
Do not know the brand but this is the type we put up http://www.flexospan.com/panel_flexrib.htm
Keep it straight measure often and it will look good.
We had the dealer helping lots of advice while it was being installed to keep it straight and to help when we f****d up!
It was a big barn we had 12 people started at 8 am and had it finished by 7 pm
It has withstood the storms of the last 12 years in southern NH!

I stand corrected... I ment to say NE pa... Raystown is bigger. But I hear the Paupack is nicer. lol
"Lake Wallenpaupack is a man-made lake built in 1927 by the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company for hydroelectric power. The lake has huge dimensions - 5,700 acres, 13 ½ miles long with 52 miles of shoreline."

"Raystown Lake is a 8,000 acre lake"

but heck to stay on topic, why not tell us how the wind was in your area??
