Hot Air Coal Stoker Stove: Harman ST8-VF8 / Frankenstove

Post by Horace » Sun. Nov. 30, 2008 11:00 am

Along with the colder weather and burning a stove comes hot, very dry air in the house. In order to keep my daughters comfortable, I run a warm mist humidifier in their bedroom at night, but would like something a little bigger for the rest of the house or at least the basement where the stove is.

Is anyone using a humidifier in their house that they can recommend?

Put it in the basement & it does the whole house.

I use a Skuttle whole house steam humidifier hooked up to my furnace, when it runs it helps circulate the heat from the coal stove.

It has a water filter and automatic flush to keep this hard water from clogging it up, I only clean it at the end of the season.

I have this in the kitchen and keeps the living area comfortable. Bought it at Wal-Mart.

I have a Bemis/Essick air 14 gallon a day model can be found at most Ace Hardware stores. I have had this one for about 7 years. My dad just bught one like it and it works real well . On the middle settings we are putting out 8+ gallons per day.

We are going thru 8-10 gallons a day, I usually have to fill on container in the morning and at night....

We have a small one for the bedroom too.

Thanks, everyone. It's amazing that I work so hard to get the water out of the air during the summer, and now I'm trying to get it back INTO the air during winter.
