Hello

Quick question.

I know that the hinge pins HAVE to be level on a baro, but what about the pipe it is in? Does the "T" have to be level, or can the "T" be placed on a 45* angle?

If I CAN set it in a 45*, and asurre that the pins are level, do I use the horizontal or vertical scale on the damper...

Here's a quick drawing of what I mean:

Thanks!

Tim

I see no reason that will not work.

Looks good to me, but I have been wrong before!

That will work fine installed on the sloped pipe. I believe the user manual for the baro indicated to use the horizontal scale for that type install. Although I would say that if you have a manometer telling you what the actual draft is, then use the scale that allows the screw weight to be the most in the middle of the scale.

That's what I wanted to hear.

I have my baro coming today, so no manual yet. I was trying to piece this setup together in my head, so when I go home it looks like I know what I am doing!....haha!

Thanks for the quick help.

Tim, just use the manometer to set the weight so the baro opens at -.04" WC, it will probably be different from what the horizontal scale says it should be. ;)

Thanks Matthaus.

Neil contacted me so I should get the Manometer this week.

I have to read up on the "how to's", but I thought I was shooting for .04, not -.04????

Guess I 'll have to read a bit more...haha!

Thanks!

Tim

All manometer readings are readings of draft, which is vacuum.. so all readings are actually a negative number,, [ - ] BUT we get tired of typing the [-] so most of us just say .05" wc,, assuming everyone knows draft is negative..

You are not the first person, nor will you be the last to ask this question..

Take care,, Greg L

Just make sure you connect to the low side, it will read positive on teh scale but that is actually a negative number as I posted. As Greg said, you will soon be among the ranks of "know how to run a manometer".

You should try and keep the face of the baro plum. If it's not you will have to compensate the more/less with the weight setting.
