Coal-Trol Thermostat Not Holding Set Temp

I just got my hearth model up and running, the thermostat is set at 70 but the room temp is reading 78. The only way I could get the temp down was to lower set temp. With the room temp at 78 and the thermostat at 70 my feed rate was 80. All the settings are still set at factory defalt.

How long has it been sitting above the setpoint? How long has it held a FR of 80? Is it reading a 78 as the current temp or are you getting this from another thermostat somewhere? If the later, what is the Coal-trol reading as the current?

Please give it a couple hours to settle out after starting it. Don't change the setpoint or try to force it to do anything. A lot of times people will have things plugged in for a while before starting it and the setpoint will be above the current temp in that period. The control, thinking the fire is going, will start to build up a high FR. Once the fire is started, the control having built up a large FR will result in a large overshoot. The best way to avoid this is to, before igniting it, set the setpoint a couple degrees below the current room temp and leave it for 30-60 minutes. Then light it up and put the setpoint where you want it. This should avoid the major overshoot on ignition.

If the problem continues give us a call tomorrow to see if we can get it figured out. 315-299-3589.

I believe I had the set point at 75, this was at 3:oo. The factory defalt is set to change at 5:00 back to 70. So after listening to my wife and stop messing with it I read the manual some more and set both defalts to 75 and the hole house stays a toasty 70*. The thermostat stays within 1 or 2 * of the set 75*temp.
