Circulation Fans for Doorway
Looking for opinions, advice, suggestions as to circulating heat through the house (cape, 4 rooms first floor, 2 beds/bath on second, 1500 sq. ft.). I've seen the small corner of the upper door frame fans from Hi-Teck at the local hardware store. Are these the way to go? Any other makes/models/manufacturers? Where to buy?
I have no personal experience with these doorway fans but I have heard from many people on a couple of forums and they did not like them. The complaints were always about the fans being noisy and not moving enough air.

If you have a ceiling fan in the room where the stove is, put that on low. I forget which way mine is set to rotate but try both ways. I tried box fans pointing at the stove, hanging in between doorways, top of stairs, bottom of stairs. You also need to get the cold air from the rooms upstairs to come down, I put in 2 floor vents in the bathroom and bedroom. Whether they help or not, I don't know, but you need the air to form a loop.
I have one of the doorway fans made by Hi-Teck and after two days I took it down as it was noisy to the point it was making me more irritable than normal .
I find a ceiling fan works well in my house. Of course, my house is only 800 sq ft.
I got an experimental motor speed control from where I worked before I retired and hooked it up to the corner fan and have it blowing across my stove on a slow speed.

Where's you stove at? Doorway or other portable fans are temporary solutions at best. They make fans for example that go into ductwork which will provide superior circulation over any of those.
