Just wondering if anyone has tried this chimney cleaning system yet?
How did you find it?
The video looks impressive and they seem to be freely available on the large auction sites.

There is nothing in the chimney of an anthracite stove/boiler/furnace but inert flyash.. there is nothing flamable or dangerous..

The 'sooteater' may be effective for a wood stove's chimney.

But I don't exclusively burn anthracite.I burn mainly Soft Bituminous house coal and it does soot up the chimney,so please don't dismiss this out of hand.

To look at it I'd guess it would work within limits. I'll guess it isn't as aggressive as a steel brush, but if the soot is light and fluffy I'd think it would work. I know anthracite is clean to burn but am curious about the bitumimous. How often might you have to clean the chimney? I have heard that bituminous soot is very sooty and messy, might want a good shop vac while using the Sooteater.

Yes Bituminous is extremely messy and does soot the chimney badly.I would clean it out every month its in 24hr use. What falls down the chimney is great for the garden, gardeners seam to love the stuff.

i think it would work well for soft fluffy bituminous soot, but not so well for crusty wood creosote-soot. for bituminous burners it would probably work well, however, I just drop a metal brush on a rope w/lead weights down my flue before each season. it's cheap and works fine. I could see if you have a small steel flue and didn't want to use a steel brush on it, but steel brushes are so cheap, I wouldn't spend the money on this.

OK, fair enough,, but Bituminous was not mentioned in the original post....

If asked on the Bituminous forum I might have caught the drift of the question..
