I used a furniture dolly. Took off everything I could then strapped the stove in. Taking it off the tacoma wasn't too bad but up the steps myself was a one step at a time deal. Then, the dolly was wider than the door too the most direct route where I needed to get the stove so I had to go round the long way. It's up on a brick (on end) high platform made of bricks and flagstones. Getting it up there was not a problem but onto the base, I needed help.

My installation contractor disassembled my wood/coal furnace and took it into the basement. My 18 year old nephew and I then carried 180 40# bags of coal from the garage to the basement. Funny how I as a 56 year old carried 120 bags down in the same time he carried 60 bags down!

Sounds like your nephew has the same "Teen" attitudes my 18 year old son has. They simply haven't learned how to work yet. :whip:DennisH wrote:My installation contractor disassembled my wood/coal furnace and took it into the basement. Has anyone put a coal stoker stove in the back of a Honda Odyssey minivan?

Getting it in is easier than getting it out. I would strap it to a two wheeled cart and leave it on the cart if it fits through the tailgate. Be sure to chock the wheels of the cart.EarthWindandFire wrote:Has anyone put a coal stoker stove in the back of a Honda Odyssey minivan?
I have a Toyota minivan. I have had up to 10 sheets of 3/4" plywood in it. I have also had 800 lbs of cast iron grates in it. It has been quite the workhorse.

I had the neighbors haul it in while I was at work.

AHS 260 (1200#) was delivered on a pallet and removed from truck using pallet jack.
Moved to walk out basement using skid-steer.
Relocated using a 4 ton engine hoist. :punk:

My boiler came on a pallet and was pallet jacked off of the trucks lift gate and into my garage. From there I pallet jacked it into place in my boiler room. Then I used a chain hoist to lift it off the pallet.

When I first bought my stove I unloaded it with a block and tackle. Then I disassebled everything that could be taken off from it. I then walked it into the house onto an upside down piece of carpet. Then I slid it until I got to the livingroom which was carpet, and walked it again until it was on the harth.
When I moved the same stove to my new home I had the movers do it for me. I did fully disasseble it for them too.

Anyone have a suggestion for getting a AA-130m out of a basement with only an interior staircase?
The homeowner/seller enlightened me to motorized/climbing handtrucks, but I can't find one anywhere for rental. Any suggestions where I can look, or how to make the boiler lighter? Fill it with helium?

Tip it over into a canoe and flood the basement.
It should row right out!

A little Kubota power and a lotta help from a 6 year old! Once in the basement I used my motorcycle lift to move it into position.
