I was having draft problems trying to keep a coal fire for domestic hot water in my VF-3000.My chimney is only 18 ft from the pipe entrance in the basement and with the summer temps and humidity I had alarms going off on my CO meter twice.I was only getting.1 and less on the manometer with natural draft,if the wind blew a good gust I got .2 for a few seconds.I orderd this draft inducer and installed it to keep a good draft all the time.My fire is burning very good and no exaust backing up into the basement. Please post any negetives that may be involved useing this inducer.

I'd guess the only downside is the cost of electricity to run the inducer. Small price to pay. Do you still have a barometric damper? I'd think you'd still need one, just didn't see it in the pic.

steveyrock, Do you have a link to that draft inducer? I'm thinking that with one of those after a barometric damper might give me better draft for my stove.

I have a question. Are you supposed to mount them on the bottom of the pipe(fly ash and all).Or can you mount them on the top or side also?
Thanks DON

They can mount almost anywhere on the stovepipe that is convenient.

They want the inducer mounted under the pipe to keep the motor and control cool.

The nice thing about this unit is I don't need it all the time.Just on those hot still type days with not much air movement and cloud cover.I run without it if I can keep .02 on the manometer with natural draft.Winter time I will never have to run the inducer and can leave it installed as it does not hinder natural draft, the blades are thin and and the air has plenty of room to draft.Simply put, this unit saved my arsh for summer domestic hot water coal burning with a short chimney.
