Cold Air Retrun/Burner Feed Questions

Hi.
I ordered my LL Hyfire II(with heat jacket) last week, and now I'm in the process of running the duct work. When installing my cool air return, would it be wise to fab it to fit the underside of the heat jacket? How about close, but not attached? One side, or both?
Also, I'd like to feed my burner(s) with outside(cold) air. About 3' away from where my stove will be placed, I have a large door, with 8 steps up to bilco doors. Would if be safe to draw from this location, via a duct witha hole cut int he door? Would it be beneficial? I know the bilco doors are not air tight, but would there not be enough air flow?
Thanks for any help you guys can give!
Tim
