Hi.

I ordered my LL Hyfire II(with heat jacket) last week, and now I'm in the process of running the duct work. When installing my cool air return, would it be wise to fab it to fit the underside of the heat jacket? How about close, but not attached? One side, or both?
Also, I'd like to feed my burner(s) with outside(cold) air. About 3' away from where my stove will be placed, I have a large door, with 8 steps up to bilco doors. Would if be safe to draw from this location, via a duct witha hole cut int he door? Would it be beneficial? I know the bilco doors are not air tight, but would there not be enough air flow?

Thanks for any help you guys can give!

Tim

Tim, please read my post "Mark II Cert of Occ with Inley Air Discussions" in Hand fired. In there you will see my experiences with my building inspector as well as other links on inlet air that will help you.

To make it function as a cold air return to move the heat around upstairs, the openings should be closed off and the cold air return can be pulled from your existing run. if you leave a gap, then it will pull from the basement air, kinda defeating the purpose of the return air.
