I thought it would be helpful to post the delivery of 6 tons of rice coal with the coal bin in my garage.

Note: if you are going to build one like I did, don't make the bin wall higher than 48 inches because you need a certain angle for the rice coal to flow off the truck.
Figure rule of thumb if your bin is 4 ft high and the chute is coming thru a garage door(7ft) the chute can go 4 ft into the garage.

This guy has a 12ft portable conveyor that he can bring with him if you let him know you will need it.

Ron from bethlehem Coal did a great job delivering and I highly reccomend him if you are on long Island nassu, suffolk county. his phone# 631-909-7050

Nice photos and thanks for posting.

Until I came to this forum I never knew those trucks existed and I think they are really neato.

Awesome setup. Can I ask how much a ton u paid? I've used Rella but not the company u mentioned. Do u have their number?

Thanks

Do your delivery guy a favor and put a small window or opening where that light is. Build the sides of the bin up a little near that area. I used to hate those deliveries. Lots of work.

Wow, that's awesome....really nice storage bin...was the coal wet when delivered?

wish my deliverer had that type of truck...the best mine can do is lift the dumptruck and let the coal pour on the driveway by opening a small "hatch"!

:)

I'm going to consider setting something like this up. Right now I get bagged coal, but I'll have to see if my coal guy has the ability to pour bulk down a chute like that. If so it might be worth it for me to build a bin in the basement.

Is that Ron in the coal bin? I guess he really gets into his work.

I was thinking the same thing but around here, SE Mass, there is not enough of a price difference to make bulk worth it over the convenience of bagged. (no coal bin needed)
