I would use a sheet of metal followed by cement board and topped with ceramic tile.
To add extra protection, the stove could be mounted on four bricks with metal between bricks and stove as an extra heat shield. Easy to slide hand underneath to test how warm the floor is getting.

Well i picked up a used store bought ceramic tile one today. Reasonably priced so i think ill just go that route for now. I might make something nicer down the road. Right now it dont make sense to dump a bunch of money on something nice looking just to perch a warm morning on. Lets face it they arent the the most attractive things. Pure utility.
I will have my Wood stock fireview soapstone there until i use up that last of my wood. I no longer have access to wood anymore. Then the warm morning will go there for bit coal. Too bad Woodstock doesnt make a coal stove. They sure make some nice looking woodstoves.

Which warm morning? Seems like some are taller than others. Is there a rule of thumb as far as bottom of stove to floor distance equals x amount of protection?

Its a 400. I have no info on clearences for it. I reckon ill just use the general clearences for it that get posted occasionally.
It has a base that is vented and has some kind of insulation with a piece of sheet metal covering it. Then about 3 inches of air gap to the ground.

I got it pretty cheap. Just dont understand the rating. The brand is called Harth (spelled that way) and i couldnt find anything about it on google.
The only other thing on it is that Braun Intertec tested to UBC 43-2.
That only leads to a pdf about a fire rating for doors.
There is a date from 1991. Probably made out of abspestos if its that old. Lol.

Stove moving time. I just wanted to share this tip for any guys that work alone such as myself.
1 3/4" step up to get it on the hearth pad. Rolled 575# right on it. Have to be careful a wheel doesnt roll off the shim pack. Those wheels kind of have a mind of their own.
Dust bunnys make excellent lubrication.
