Good evening all,
I was looking for some feed back on a coal bin that i'm going to purchase within the next 2 weeks. It will be built from 16 gauge steel by the amish in Gordonsville Pa. The same folks that I bought my DS Coal Stove from. A great stove by the way.
So it will hold 3.2 tons of coal. They will pre fab it in their shop assemble it to make sure it all bolts together then break it down in 5 peices roughly 500 pounds total weight of bin. The cost will be $1,100 dollars which includes powder coating to help with rust. I would have to pick it up and assemble it inside my garage. My two concerns would be the 16 guage? I was thinking maybe 14 gauge or thicker. They tell me 16 gauge is fine. And 2nd would be the cost. Would this be a fair price? Please chime in and let me know.

Other then I could probably build 10 bins out of wood for that cost, I'm guessin if your happy with it, that's all that matters.
