So to all the bin fed guys with 520 efms.
how do you set up The dog house as they call it or how do you
Make your bin so if you have to remove the auger you can without shoveling out 5ton of coal?

I’m looking to build a bin right next to the boiler. I’m probably not gonna do slope sides, just when the bin gets low enough I’ll install my plastic barrel or a small hopper in the coal bin itself and shovel the remaining few tons in for the season.
Anyone have any pics?
Thank you
Brenden

After viewing the manual it’s starting to make sense. Is it common for people to run a bin with straight walls and stuff some type of a barrel or hopper in the bun once the coal gets to low to self feed? Then shovel the rest of the years worth of coal into the barrel?

You don't need to have a dog house for an EFM, Gentleman Janitor or Van Wert. Unless your bin auger is going a few feet into the coal bin, I wouldn't build one.

If you have a problem the main thing you need to do is un-do the pipe coupler, push the bin pipe into the coal a few inches so you can un-do the auger coupler. As long as you have enough room to do that you will be OK.

And, Yes, a few concrete blocks and a barrel with a hole in the bottom works great for when the bin gets low.
